What is defined as estate jewellery?

Estate/vintage jewellery refers to jewellery that was previously owned and enjoyed. Due to it having been previously owned and enjoyed you save a substantial amount of money buying estate jewellery as the depreciation has already been levied on the original purchaser.

Is there a difference between estate jewellery and antique jewellery?

Yes there is a difference between antique and estate terminology. Antique jewellery as defined in Canada is likely over 100 years old and will likely be further delineated by the period in which it was designed and manufactured. Estate as previously noted refers to it having been previously enjoyed and is returning to the market for further trade.

Does REJ buy jewellery?

Can you explain the appraisal process?

For the appraisal and valuation process, we have staff with a broad range of experiences and knowledge base. We will have the right expert evaluate your piece either for appraisal or valuation. An updated appraisal may be useful for insurance purposes or your own personal satisfaction in order to determine the correct insurance needs or to replace a lost or stolen item. A valuation would be conducted to determine if we would wish to purchase your item for re-conditioning and re-sale and what the dollar offer for your item might be. Our over one-hundred years of collective experience, along with our many gemologists on staff will collaborate to determine the best course of action regarding your item.
